Coach, captain, committee member, Julia Ginger has done it all in her incredible 50 years of service at Headstone Tennis Club.

Members of the Hillfield Close club in North Harrow came together to celebrate Julia’s outstanding efforts at their annual awards night. Julia received a memory book of touching messages and photos from members and a beautiful one-off artwork of the club, which has played a significant role in her life.

She has served on the committee for 50 years, holding the roles of secretary, chair, new member liaison, coach and many other unofficial positions. She met her husband Malcolm at the club and the duo have been the driving force behind everything at Headstone, as well as fostering the warm family friendly environment it is renowned for.

Julia has run numerous social events, coaching clinics, welcomed hundreds of new members, raised significant sums for charity through different events and much more. Given her work with junior coaching, the club also announced it will rename their junior championships after Julia and Malcolm.

Julia joined Headstone in 1970 and took up her first committee position in 1972. Her main role in that time has been club secretary, but she has also served as chair, while husband Malcolm acted as treasurer. The duo’s names decorate the honours boards in the bar, having won multiple club singles, doubles and mixed doubles titles during their time on court. They even sponsor the club through their company Origin Doors and Windows.

From everyone at Headstone Tennis Club, thank-you Julia!
